Priyanka’s law practice focuses on providing representation to entrepreneurs, startups, and small and medium businesses on entity formation and startup planning, angel, venture capital and private equity financings, corporate governance and compliance, asset and stock acquisitions, and structuring and negotiating a wide range of other high stake corporate matters. She is known for simplifying the path forward for her clients through creative and pragmatic solutions consistent with their goals. With experience that spans three countries (United States, Singapore, and India) and client representation that include individuals and businesses from Asia, Europe and North America, a unique feature of Priyanka’s practice is advising India-based and other overseas businesses on matters such as structuring their entry and expanding business operations to the US, fund raising, cross border acquisitions, and general compliance with US laws. Priyanka also assists clients in drafting and reviewing real estate leases and on advising landlords and tenants on their rights and obligations.
Priyanka’s expansive experience, both as a business lawyer and a business owner, also enables her to provide cost-efficient, customized, and sophisticated legal services as outside “inhouse counsel” to small and medium businesses that do not have the resources to hire a big legal team. Priyanka began her legal career working in the National Judicial Academy, India’s foremost training institute for the judiciary. From there, Priyanka went on to work as a foreign counsel in the business practice group of one of Singapore’s top law firms, Joseph Tan Jude Benny. After four years in Singapore, Priyanka relocated to the United States to practice law in California. She worked in the business groups of two of San Diego’s oldest and prominent law firms, including Sullivan Hill (now Fennemore). Most recently, she co-founded the law firm of M & T Legal, a boutique law firm that represented several high growth startups and emerging companies, including on several 6 and 7 figure seed and VC rounds. M & T Legal’s practice has now merged with SLG. Priyanka’s experience of living and working in three countries allows her to navigate differences in cultures and legal systems and has also shaped her empathetic approach to lawyering.
Priyanka has a post graduate degree in law with a specialization in business law from the University of San Diego School of Law. She is actively involved in the legal community and served as Vice President of the South Asian Bar Association (San Diego chapter) and as co-chair of the Diverse Women’s Committee of Lawyers Club of San Diego from 2017-2019. She is currently an active member of the South Asian Bar Association of Austin.
Outside of work, Priyanka enjoys spending time with her two sons, watching British murder mysteries with her husband, reading, and trying her hand at new recipes.
